Jaguar Type 00: Miami Pink With Intent

Jaguar Type 00 is not a showroom car. It is a design statement asking whether an old marque can afford to be visibly new.

Miami Pink sounds like a drink you order once because the room is in a mood. At Jaguar, it became a car. Long, low, calm and impossible to file away as a polite concept exercise.

Jaguar revealed Type 00 in December 2024 during Miami Art Week. That setting mattered. This was a car shown where colour, architecture and performance already know how to live together. The concept does not ask for a neutral room. It asks for light, distance and a little nerve.

The colour is the obvious entrance, but the real story sits underneath it. Type 00 is Jaguar showing the design direction for its electric era. It is not a car waiting for a dealer sticker. It is a line in the sand, drawn in a shade that refuses to whisper.

Quick Fitting

  • Jaguar revealed Type 00 at Miami Art Week in December 2024.
  • The Satin Rhodon Rose car was presented as Miami Pink, alongside a London Blue version.
  • The concept previews a new electric design language for Jaguar.
  • Range and charging figures come from Jaguar’s original announcement and depend on the future production model.

Why the pink works

Pink on a car can easily feel like a stunt. A campaign colour. A way to make people stop scrolling. Type 00 avoids that because the colour is not sitting on top of a familiar car. The shape is already asking to be read differently.

Jaguar linked Miami Pink to the Art Deco setting of the reveal. The shade itself, Satin Rhodon Rose, was described as being inspired by the rosy colour brass takes on as it ages. That detail matters. It keeps the car away from novelty and moves it closer to material, patina and craft. Luxury becomes more interesting when it has texture.

The car is low, stretched and strangely still. The bonnet runs long, the roofline sweeps back in one clean motion and the 23-inch wheels give the whole thing an architectural stance. There is little decorative noise. The surfaces are flush, the face is upright and the rear has no conventional glass tailgate. You can call it severe. You can also call it refreshing. After years of angry vents and overdrawn faces, Type 00 looks like someone had the confidence to remove things.

The courage is in the restraint

Old Jaguar romance is easy material. E-Type proportions, leather, wood, sound, the old promise of motion before the car has even moved. That is exactly why Type 00 is difficult. It cannot simply borrow from that memory. A heritage brand that repeats itself too neatly becomes a museum with wheels.

Type 00 takes a different route. The proportions remember the grand touring idea, while the surfacing speaks with a colder clarity. At the front, a precise light signature sits within an upright face. At the rear, horizontal Strikethrough graphics hide full-width lighting and make the car feel wider, heavier and more deliberate. Cameras and charging ports stay hidden until needed. That restraint suits Jaguar. Luxury does not have to explain every mechanism.

The side detail is especially telling. The leaper appears laser-etched into a hand-finished brass ingot. It is a small gesture, but a useful one. A future Jaguar cannot live on screens and software alone. It still needs details that feel considered when you see them up close.

What Type 00 says about Jaguar

Jaguar presented Type 00 as a preview of a new electric family. In the original announcement, the marque pointed to a four-door electric GT on the Jaguar Electric Architecture. It also named a projected range of up to 430 miles on the EPA cycle, equal to 692 kilometres, and up to 200 miles of charge in about 15 minutes. Jaguar marked those figures as subject to final testing on the future production model. They are useful less as bragging numbers and more as a signal: Jaguar does not want its electric future to sit in the middle of the room politely.

That suits the marque, as long as the conviction survives the road to production. Jaguar has rarely been at its best when trying to please everybody. The memorable Jaguars carried a little risk. Elegant, yes. Comfortable in their own skin, usually. Safe in the broader sense, rarely. Type 00 reaches for that tension and translates it into an object that wants character before consensus.

The reaction was loud before the car had a chance to stand on its own. The new brand world had already stirred arguments around logo, campaign language and identity. Type 00 makes the conversation more useful. Now we can talk about proportion, surfaces, details and nerve. That is better ground.

Miami Pink is the point

If Jaguar had shown only the London Blue car, the concept would have been easier to place. British reference, cool restraint, grand tourer energy. Miami Pink removes that comfort. It forces the car to be read as a deliberate break. If Jaguar is starting again, the restart has to be visible.

That is a risk, and the risk is the work. A marque caught between memory and relevance gains little from caution. It gains something when it finds a clear opinion about its own shape. Type 00 is that opinion in metal, glass, light and colour.

You do not have to love it on first sight. That would almost be too easy. But it is hard to ignore the discipline underneath the provocation. Type 00 is not background luxury. It is a sculptural argument on 23-inch wheels, and perhaps the first Jaguar in a long while that makes the future more interesting than the past.

The Details

Is the Jaguar Type 00 a production car?

No. Type 00 is a concept car and a design vision for Jaguar’s next electric chapter. A production model may borrow ideas from it, but it will not be an identical copy of the show car.

Why is the colour called Miami Pink?

Jaguar presented Type 00 during Miami Art Week. The colour references the city’s Art Deco surroundings. Jaguar described the pink car as Satin Rhodon Rose.

Why does this belong in //DRIVE?

Because this is not just a show stand moment. It is about driving culture, brand memory and the shape an electric Jaguar is allowed to take next. That is exactly where //DRIVE lives.
