Munich brunch hotspots you absolutely must try!
In 2023 we curated five brunch addresses in Munich to elevate your weekend mornings. We checked which of them are still around today, what has changed, and where the table is still worth every euro.
Munich never lacks brunch options, but consistency is rare in gastronomy. When we selected these five spots in 2023, it was unclear which would still be standing two years later. The short answer: most are still here, one location is gone, and a few details have shifted. Here’s the updated roundup so you don’t end up facing a closed door.
- Lilli P on Lilli-Palmer-Straße is still going strong, serving a weekend buffet for €25.50 per person.
- At Madam Anna Ekke you can brunch until 2 p.m., now at two locations (Glockenbach and Neuhausen).
- Emmi’s Kitchen stays 100 % vegan, but its Giesing branch will close at the end of the year.
- das Kadu continues to serve its crossover cuisine; you’ve got time until the afternoon.
- La Bohème is the pricier exception: a multi-course flying buffet for around €89.

Breakfast has a fixed place in Munich’s weekly rhythm. The Saturday-morning table is an appointment, a pause, and a small ritual all in one. What matters is the mix of menu, atmosphere, and whether you’re allowed to linger or get shooed out by 11 a.m. The following five addresses cover the full spectrum, from health-conscious to decadent.
Lilli P: Healthy Breakfast Near the Donnersberger Bridge
The Café Lilli P is located on Lilli-Palmer-Straße, named after the actress Lilli Palmer. On weekdays, it opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.; the focus is on health, regionality, and fairly traded products. The menu features toasted sandwiches, homemade lemonades, and a wide selection of bowls-available vegetarian or vegan.
What has changed since our first visit: at the weekend, there’s a buffet for €25.50 per person. So if you’re planning a big brunch, book Saturday or Sunday. The pastel-toned interior remains one of the reasons Lilli P appears on every second Munich list.
Madam Anna Ekke: Sweet, Savory, and Now at Two Locations
Madam Anna Ekke’s menu is broad. Fresh pastries, pancakes in multiple variations-from classic with fruit and maple syrup to savory with poached egg, ham, and spinach. If you prefer something lighter, try yogurt with toppings, and fans of Middle Eastern breakfast will find hummus and specialty dishes. Brunch is served until 2 p.m., after which it’s served until supplies last.
From one address to two. If you don’t get a table in Glockenbach, you can head to Neuhausen instead of canceling brunch altogether.
The biggest difference since 2023: Madam Anna Ekke now operates two locations-the original in the Glockenbach district and a second café in Neuhausen. For you, that means a realistic chance of securing a seat, since weekend wait times were always the bottleneck.
Emmi’s Kitchen: Fully Vegan, with One Location Fewer
Emmi’s Kitchen has been around since 2016, with a clear mission from the start: a completely vegan concept showcasing the diversity of plant-based cuisine. The brunch menu includes Coconut Milk Rice with mango sauce and berries, avocado toast with avocado-pea cream, or tofu scramble with smoked tofu, vegan butter, and vegetables.
Here’s the key correction to our previous article: the Giesing branch closed at the turn of the year, with the operator citing economic conditions. Now you’ll find Emmi’s Kitchen in Glockenbach and Schwabing, plus a location in Augsburg. If you were counting on the Giesing shop, switch to the city-center branches instead.
das Kadu: Crossover Cuisine Until the Afternoon
das Kadu describes itself as more than just a café, offering breakfast, crossover cuisine, and cocktails under one roof. Alongside classics like Eggs Benedict and French toast, there’s fruity options such as a berry bowl with berries, banana, and granola, plus vegan muesli or Greek-style yogurt. Vegetarian-and often vegan-dishes aren’t a special request here; they’re standard on the menu.
The practical plus: brunch is served until 4 p.m. That makes das Kadu the right spot if your Saturday starts late and you’ve slept in. Opening times in hospitality can change quickly, so a quick check of the website before heading out doesn’t hurt.
La Bohème: The Pricey Flying Buffet for Special Occasions
La Bohème deliberately sets itself apart. Instead of a menu, you get an eight-course meal served as a flying buffet over roughly three hours. The courses range from a classic apéro with bread basket, cheese, salami, and fish to yogurt with fruit, egg dishes, and salads, on to hearty plates like roast beef, burger, and potato pancakes. Dessert features pancake balls and Crêpes Suzette.
The price is around €89 per person, making La Bohème the premium option on this list. For a regular Saturday brunch, it’s overkill; for a birthday, engagement, or occasion that deserves a frame, it’s a thoughtful choice. Reservations are required-spontaneity doesn’t work with a three-hour menu.
Which Spot Fits Which Occasion?
Quick guide: for healthy and relaxed, Lilli P on a weekday is the quietest choice. For a classic weekend brunch with a big menu, Madam Anna Ekke and das Kadu are ready-with das Kadu offering the advantage of late closing. For fully plant-based brunching, head to Emmi’s Kitchen. And if the occasion is grand, La Bohème is worth the price despite the cost.
